Super Weatherboard Painters In Ascot Vale

    Local Weatherboard Painters

Painting weatherboard houses makes up a large part of our jobs. We are weatherboard painters Ascot Vale, and all over Melbourne, afterall. We’ve seen them in all shapes and sizes. And in all conditions. As exterior house painters, we have some experience in these matters.

We’ve seen pre-primed boards. Stripped weatherboard houses back to bare wood. Dealt with more bubbles than Moet. And more flakes than Cadburys. And whilst everyone is unique, they all require a little tender, love and care. Or as we weatherboard painters call it, sanding, filling and gapping.

Ascot Vale – Weatherboard House Painters

This weatherboard house had new Fibre Cement Weatherboards on it, the old ones had seen a hundred years of neglect. These new weatherboards shouldn’t rot, get termites and best of all shouldn’t expand, contract, move, endlessly produce resin, push out nails and weather quite so fast.

But it’s the same process for us weatherboard painters. Sanding, filling, gapping, priming and painting.

Fibre Cement Weatherboards are by there nature low maintenance, and we always apply a premium exterior paint, Dulux Weathershield in most cases. Giving a quality, long lasting painted finish.

The Classic Victorian Brick House – Exterior Painting Kensington

    Exterior Painting Kensington

Much of our time is spent exterior house painting in Kensington. As our local suburb, it’s great to not travel to work. Painting the traditional house exteriors is our bread and butter. Half are weatherboard houses, and the other are brick houses. Here in Kensington, we have both. However, both pose their own set of problems and will have their own character.

    Exterior House Painters

The brickwork was badly cracked, but the customer planned ahead, and as so, had organised a bricklayer to fixed these before we started painting. It’s great to plan ahead, because it fixes most problems before they arise. We always recommend our clients, have a good look around and fix up areas before we start. House maintenance is very important in protecting your investment. We help by putting the final touches to it.

When we’re painting the colours black and white together, it’s always gets a little difficult. Due to it being the most defined difference, in the colour palette, and that means we have no margin for error. No problem, because we have steady hands and nerves of steel, and that’s what’s needed!

    Kew exterior house painters

Sterling House Painters have been painting this lovely house in Kew over the winter. And as Kew exterior house painters, we know, a lot of preparation and scaffold is needed, due to the hard to reach places.

Because of the textured rendered exterior we used Weathershield Masonry Matt, instead of the normal Low Sheen. It gives a calmed down cool stone effect.

    Paints and Paint Colours Used:

    • Dulux Weathershield Masonry Matt – Flooded Gum
    • Dulux Weathershield Masonry Matt – Antque White USA
    • Dulux Weathershield Gloss – Antique White USA

External House Painters, in the Winter

Does exterior house painting in the winter cause the painters problems? Well, unfortunately it does, but only for the painters!

As you know, Melbourne has at least 4 seasons in one day. So just by weighing up the weather reports, our experience and seeing what it’s actually doing, we,  Kew exterior house painters, can usualy paint.

And because it’s cooler, it’s better to paint. Cooler means the paint get’s to dry naturally at an ambient temperature. The paint is easier to apply, and so we end up with a better finish.

The only real problem is keeping warm enough, but with thermals and a good sense of humour, we manage.

    Exterior House Painters Essendon

When it comes to painting the exterior of your home, you really only have two decisions to make, quality and colour.

    Quality of Paint

Quality is all about standards, the standard of the painting and more importantly the standard of the paint.

Why should this matter, it just painting afterall? Rest assured, we work to the industry standard AS/NZ 2311, so we’ve got the painting covered. However it doesn’t matter how good we are at painting if we’re using a poor quality paint.

Paint is just paint  right? No it’s not. As with everything the quality of the product is key. Using a quality paint can be the difference between repainting your home in 5 years or 15 years. While a good quality paint is more expensive, it won’t be as expensive as painting your home 3 times rather than once! Nowhere near. We use Dulux Weathershield as our go to exterior paint product, guaranteed for 15 years, so already you’re saving money.

Please remember that by painting your home, you’re actually protecting your investment. The paint will slow down the aging of your home, meaning less maintenance, less repair bills, more cash in your pocket. Your Bank Manager actually likes us. We’re the exterior house painters Essendon.

    The Colour of Paint

Much more exciting. No more “protect your property, investment” boring, dry stuff your father always talked about! Down to the important nitty gritty, paint colour, and how to impress your friends with your style and finesse, all at the same time as showing them up for being so, so last season.

You have two options here, choose the paint colour yourself or get a Sterling Painters & Decorators Colour Consultant to help.

    Choose Yourself.

Yes you have style, you know what’s trending. Good, go for it. Make it work! But what if you mess up, where’s the fall guy? You are the fall guy. Embarrassing!!! You friends are talking behind your back. Sorry.

It’s a win win. You can tell your friends about the time talking colours with a professional Colour Consultant, sharing same wavelength, vibes, trends, talking about Morroco and your travels and how you loved though tiles, blah blah. The experience. The accolade of being respected for you great taste. Friends envious. Win. Colours great. Win.

Too Cold For a Dip? Painting in Winter

Whilst the pool maybe shut up for the winter, and no chance of sangria now,  and there maybe be a chance of ice, we still have to paint house exteriors in the winter. Painting Essendon between downpours.

Rugged up and thermal wrapped, we’ll paint your house in the depths of the frozen tundra. Winter is coming? John Snow isn’t an employee, sorry, get over it! But we are, and he’s not that dashing anyway!

    Painting in Winter – Essendon

Commonly we are asked to paint house exteriors in the winter, and at the same time asked if it’s too cold to paint. No it’s not too cold, for the paint at least. In fact the paint takes longer to dry is a good thing.

Well the sun came out when I was painting the zinc awnings, so they heated up and felt hot to touch! The second coat on one dried too fast and uneven. Ruined. I repainted later, when clouds came over. It’s good to paint in winter.

The only thing that may cause problems is the dew point. That’s when the moisture in the air becomes too much for anything to dry. Usually about 4pm mid winter. We’ve finished for the day by then.
