Exteriors:
The way your home's exterior looks is a reflection of you. In order to present a character of well being and interest in your home, you must make sure you have a professional exterior painted finish that will show you and your home off.
There are few more rewarding projects than giving your home a new look with a fresh paint job. But it is a labour-intensive task. However a good paint job will protect your home from the elements, saving you the higher cost of extensive repairs.
For any exterior painting job the most important step is proper surface preparation. Taking the necessary time for proper surface preparation and then using the highest quality paint are crucial for achieving a long lasting paint job.
Exterior Painting Includes:
- Evaluate Existing Conditions:
- Examine the entire surface of your house looking for problems such as peeling paint, open joints or seams, wet or rotted wood, mildew (black or gray spots), and other problems.
- Remove Loose Paint:
- Remove all peeling or flaking paint.
- Scuff-sand:
- If the surfaces is glossy, we sand them lightly to improve the bond between the new and old finishes.
- Prime Bare Wood:
- Paint will not bond to wood exposed by sanding. We apply an exterior acylic or oil-based primer with a brush to all bare wood.
- Patch Damaged Wood:
- We use an exterior filler compound or, for larger damaged areas, a two-part polyester resin filler to repair any holes or damaged wood.
- Gapping:
- Usually the previous paint film peels or flakes most often near joints or between dissimilar materials. This is because water seeps into cracks and soaks into the wood. We gap all the joints, insuring a lasting paint job.
- Light fixtures are removed or properly protected
- Thorough cleanup after every working day
